There is a lot to consider when designing your kitchen. We have pooled years
of experience to provide you with a guide to designing your kitchen that

comprehensive sections (we will assist you with each):
Things
to consider
Measuring
Layout
Distinctive details
Things to consider:
When you are planning your kitchen it is important that it is easy to use, safe
and unique to you.
Elements to consider are:
Be realistic and dont try to squeeze in too much into one space.
List your requirements and prioritise.
Banish the elements of your current kitchen that annoy you.
Include elements of your current kitchen that you enjoy.
List the appliances which you intend to have in your new kitchen and include
them in your plan.
Complement your home and lifestyle in your choice of design and style.
Measuring your kitchen:
Tools:
Steel tape-measure
Pen
Paper (it is often easier to use graph paper)
Someone to help and give a second opinion!
1. Start in one corner and work your way around clockwise. Measure all walls
of the complete room.
2. Make sure you measure each dimension and account for all pipes, stop cocks,
pillars, recesses, door facings, windows etc.
3. Double check all measurements
4. Mark onto your 1:20 graph paper all dimensions of the room.
5. Add to your plan, sockets, pipes, windows and entrance.
You are now ready to start setting out the layout of your kitchen.
Layout
There will be three key areas to your kitchen: cooking, preparation and washing.
A good tip is to have the sink, oven/hob and fridge/freezer all close but with a
definite preparation space between them. You may have heard about the
WORKING TRIANGLE with each of the key areas at the corners. We have
some samples below:

If you are considering seating or a dining area in your kitchen, be
careful not to sit people to close to one of the key areas of your working
triangle and this may interfere with your cooking.
